Contribute/Volunteer

When you contribute to the Jon Francis Foundation, you are passing on Jon’s legacy of love and service, and helping us provide:
  • Hands-on help to others who are distraught and overwhelmed while coping with the disappearance of a loved one, including important resources.
  • Training for law enforcement officials and the search and rescue community.
  • Improvements to existing laws and ongoing efforts to change inadequate missing persons’ reporting, investigation and search practices.
  • Wilderness safety education, training and information to reduce incidents of loss.  We distribute free safety kits, working with tourism centers, outfitters, back country organizations, scout troops, search and rescue groups, and law enforcement.
You can make a tax deductible contribution easily and securely through PayPal be clicking the button below.

All on-line contributors will receive a Jon Francis Foundation safety kit. The lightweight kit contains ten key safety tips, a Mylar mirror (useful as a signaling device), and an emergency whistle.

The kit is a thoughtful gift for friends and loved ones who travel in the backcountry.

Thank you again for helping others and replicating Jon’s legacy of love and service.

Our 2010 plans and funding needs include:
  • Committing $5,000 for the training of state law enforcement agencies on the requirements of Brandon’s Law, Minnesota’s new Missing Persons’ Law.
  • Distribution of safety kits; each kit costs JFF $1 (a $25 contribution will get a kit in the hands of 25 people going into the wilderness.
  • Wilderness safety education and training.
  • Working with our partner, Search, Rescue, and Recovery Resources of Minnesota (www.SRRRMN.org) and law enforcement, JFF will work with families dealing with a missing person.
  • Crisis support for families and individuals coping with someone who is missing, grief and unresolved loss.
